Leadership Development

I have run leadership development programmes at all levels and across a variety of sectors. I help to increase self awareness so that leaders can develop their authentic leadership style. I also focus on practical skills and techniques for leaders, such as how to handle challenging conversations and how to coach effectively.

I have also designed leadership team development programmes, working with senior teams and Boards to increase their effectiveness.

My approach is to combine the solid basis and rigour of proven psychological concepts and theories with the opportunity to practise and develop skills in realistic and relevant simulations.  This aspect of my client work consistently receives positive feedback. I do not believe in including significant amounts of ‘lecturing’ and theory.  I introduce the key principles and move quickly into the practical sessions where delegates receive high quality feedback and coaching.  This is where I believe they achieve maximum learning.

I am an experienced facilitator rather than typical trainer.  This means I work with each group to ensure their needs are met, and that I am skilled at maximising learning through applying a range of methods.

I work collaboratively with clients to ensure leadership development is focused, tailored and effective, and will achieve both personal and organisational goals.

Ways in which I have facilitated leadership development include:

Supporting a large financial services business through organisational restructure and change;  designing and running a leadership development programme for the top 200 managers, including leadership seminars, 360 degree feedback and personal coaching; designing a range of tailored development centres, training observers and coaches, providing one to one feedback and development planning.

Leadership Development for 500 Partners in one of the ‘big 4’ Accountancy firms; facilitating a 2 day leadership workshop and providing one to one coaching, drawing on 360 degree feedback and psychometric profiles.

Facilitating a large scale Leadership Programme for an international IT client; over 2000 managers attended modules including ‘challenging conversations’, ‘leadership’ and ‘team working’. The leadership module included 360 degree feedback based on the organisation’s leadership competency framework. Once again, a practical, relevant and interactive approach was taken to develop those skills contributing to effective leadership

Supporting the development of a Leadership Board in a National Research organisation, using a blend of individual, team and organizational development activities, and drawing specifically on team 360 feedback and MBTI profiles.

Facilitating individual and team development for an industrial manufacturing organization using 360 degree feedback, structured interviews and psychometric profiles (MBTI and OPQ). Based on the diagnosis of needs, a selection of development modules were designed.
